PAMCHAM CHAIR RENE ROMERO PROPOSES EXPANDING TULAOC BRIDGE TO FOUR LANES

Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Incorporated (PamCham) Chairman Rene Romero is now recommending that the Tulaoc Overpass Bridge in San Simon, Pampanga, be expanded to four lanes.

This comes after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region III announced that the rehabilitation of the said bridge will begin on February 24.

It can be recalled that President Bongbong Marcos ordered the rehabilitation of the structure following severe flooding in that portion of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in 2024, which resulted in heavy traffic congestion or “carmageddon.” NLEX has reportedly elevated the roadway section, and raising the overpass bridge should follow to ensure the safe passage of large vehicles.

While Romero considers this a welcome development, he urges the DPWH to expand the bridge to four lanes.

He added that the bridge could serve as an alternative route for motorists traveling to the eastern part of Pampanga
